Zhenya Strigalev always been known for intense and memorable playing with a unique sound on his saxophones. He has absorbed the techniques and sounds of both jazz history and also from around the globe.

After a decade based in London where he has gained a significant following, saxophonist non-conformist Zhenya Strigalev has returned to live in his native St Petersburg.

Zhenya is one of jazz’s mavericks. With his aggressively unstylish mop of hair, palely distracted air and almost impenetrable Russian accent, he cuts an improbable figure on a jazz stage.
